Description
The Associate Actuary, Risk and Compliance is responsible for the overall management and oversight of actuaries and/or support staff where activities are concerned with identifying and managing risks. Identifies and analyzes potential risks and estimates the potential financial consequences, develops and recommends controls and cost-effective approaches to minimize risks. The Associate Actuary, Risk and Compliance work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Responsibilities
The Associate Actuary, Risk and Compliance assesses and communicates information regarding actuarial/business risks across the organization. Provides peer review and counsel on a wide variety of company, industry, and regulatory practices. Activities may include monitoring developments in actuarial techniques, and researching laws and regulations applicable to actuarial science and insurance operations. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
5 or more years of technical experience
Successful completion of at least 1 actuarial exam
Meets requirements for Humana's Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)
Strong communication skills
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Medicare Advantage or Part D Bids experience a plus
Experience with VBA
