Description
The Associate Actuary on the Specialty Benefits team will have a wide range of responsibilities. This is an exciting opportunity with highly visible work products. The ideal candidate would have the opportunity to lead an actuarial analyst. Work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Key success factors in this role include full ownership of outcomes and independence.
Responsibilities
The Associate Actuary job responsibilities will include forecasting and trend analyses for Group Dental and Vision products. Presents findings to leadership through written communication and presentations. Builds new tools and modeling in response to business needs. Effectively collaborates with cross-functional departments to find new solutions. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments and balances multiples priorities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation
Meets eligibility requirements for Humana's Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)
MAAA
Strong communication skills, both written and oral; ability to convey actuarial findings to non-actuarial audiences
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Proficient in data retrieval using SAS/SQL or similar
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Specialty Benefits: Dental/Vision/Life
Experience managing associate(s)
